Mythic Life Coaching Brings out the Hero in Clients

February 2, 2016 – Mythic Life Coaching, under the helm of Dr. Gary Reynolds, a Naturopath and Master Life Coach, is showing clients how to bring out their inner Hero to make life changes and to create the life of their choice . . . the life of a King or Queen.

The Mythic Life Program brings to life the Heroes Journey, the journey where a young boy or girl goes on a quest into the unknown, is tempted by the Dark Side, receives supernatural aid, fights the Dragon or accomplishes impossible feats or tests, obtains the magical item, becomes the master of their own life, and returns to share their experiences and knowledge with their community.

This journey is often called the Mono-myth, especially by the followers of Joseph Campbell, the American mythological researcher who wrote the book, Hero with a Thousand Faces. His findings and writings were the inspiration of George Lucas for his Star Wars Trilogies. The Mono-myth can be seen in other successful stories and trilogies such as The Matrix, The Hobbit, The Wizard of Oz, and The Lion King.

Joseph Campbell was influenced by the theory of the Collective Unconscious as identified by Swiss Psychiatrist Carl Jung. Jung understood that the Collective Unconscious used patterns and symbols to communicate universal ideas.  Many of these ideas are consolidated into specific universally-recognized figures known as Archetypes. Examples of Archetypes can be the King, the Knight, the Trickster, the Shadow (Dark Side), Shape shifters, the Wizard, the Healer, the Orphan and the Dragon.

Dr. Reynolds helps his clients recognize the Archetypical figure that they are currently accessing in their life. Once identified, a program is then created to help the individual utilize the power of the Archetype within the Heroes Journey Cycle in a positive way to bring about positive growth for the individual and accomplish the client’s current Life Goals. Every Program is unique, so no one experiences the program the same way.

All programs incorporate the use of personal journal writing, elements of Shamanism, Dream Therapy, personal ritual, personal artistic expression, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), visualization and guided imagery. Programs can be structured to include hypnosis, past life regression, and/or the client’s personal spiritual system, if they wish to include them.

The programs are not for the faint of heart. They can often be disturbing as they are designed to have the client find and eliminate outdated or limiting belief systems, confront them, and then change them into belief systems that would then support their new growth and life. Many of the beliefs that are held as truth are associated with painful and strong memories.  These memories must not only be remembered, but they must also be analyzed and acknowledged. With the help of the program, the beliefs associated with these memories can be changed.

Obviously, such a program cannot be accomplished in a couple of days or weeks. Six months is the minimum amount of time needed to accomplish all phases of the Heroes Journey with some individuals taking longer, depending on what specific outcomes and what goals the client wants to accomplish. The program currently requires time being devoted to it daily as well as weekly in-office sessions. The program is currently being converted to eliminate the in-office sessions and replace them with online real-time or pre-recorded sessions.
